Canada Games Call For Athletes

Work is still under way putting together a triathlon team to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2009 Canada Summer Games in PEI this August. A number of people have stepped forward to help athletes meet their goals and have an opportunity to participate in the games.

There will be two events at the games ... an Individual Sprint Triathlon (750m swim/20k bike/5k run) and a Team Triathlon (300m swim/7k bike/2k run). The team will be 3 male and 3 female triathletes. Athletes must be at least 16 years of age and no older than 20 years of age as of December 31 2009 (born between January 1 1989 and December 31 1993 inclusively). In the team event all three team members race in a relay format, completing the swim, bike and run before tagging the next team member. This continues until all three competitors have completed the course.

Races will be run in a draft legal format. Participants must have draft legal bicycles as per Triathlon Canada Competition Rules.

If you are keen to be part of the team please contact coach@trinl.com to confirm your fitness level and eligibility. Time is running short and a quick response is essential to allow time for focused training.
