Ironman Canada A Hot One

Good luck to the NL contingent at today's Ironman Canada in Penticton BC.

In addition to the challenge of a 3.8k swim, 180k bike and 42.2k run, athletes will have to contend with temperatures approaching 100 degrees!

Among those representing Newfoundland and Labrador are George Colbert, Michael Colbert, Ron Edmunds, Randy Knight, Ann Marie Lane, Alexandra Lys, Jason Pretty, Flora Seymour, Michelle Cooze and Shawn Stratton.

Tri Team Home From Canada Games

The NL Triathlon Team has returned from the Canada Games and although they are not bearing medals, they have gained great experience through the competition.

BC dominated the tri events but Coach Keith Manuel was encouraged by the strong performance from Nova Scotia which showed that smaller provinces can excel with solid programs.

Mens Tri Team Takes 7th Place

The NL Canada Games Triathlon Men captured 7th place this afternoon at the Team Event with a time of 1 hour 14 minutes and 9 seconds. Results are HERE.

Ladies Tri Team 8th At Games

The Ladies NL Triathlon Team finished in 8th place this morning at the Canada Games Team Event with a time of 1 hour 24 minutes and 4 seconds. Results are HERE.

Canada Games Triathlon

The Canada Games NL Triathlon Team kicked into action Tuesday with the Individual Event.

In the male event Geordie Summers Lubar finished the sprint in 1 hour 2 minutes 25 seconds for 19th place. Jordan Baird was 22nd in 1:05:14 and Jonathon Slaney was 1:06:17 for 24th place. See HERE for the whole field.

Victoria Ralph was the 21st female in 1:10:56 followed by Nicole Graham in 1:12:33 for 22nd place and Astrid Peacock in 1:14:22 for 25th place. Full results are HERE.

Next event is the Team Triathlon on Friday.

St.John's Tri Results

Pictured is Gerry Donovan exiting the water at his 25th consecutive St.John's Triathlon!

The event ran yesterday with a record 199 participants. First place went to Stephen Dyke in 2 hours 7 minutes 28 seconds. First place female was Caroline McIlroy in 2:21:24.

Record 154 Kids Of Steel !

The Regatta Day Kids Of Steel Triathlon broke all records with 154 athletes from 5 - 14 years old completing the swim - bike - run course in Bowring Park.

Ryan Brown Wins Corner Brook

Congratulations to Ryan Brown on his victory at today's Corner Brook Triathlon.

Ryan completed the the 1.5k swim in 18:59, the 40k bike in 1:03:22, and the 10k run in 45:20 for a total time of 2:07:40. Abigail Steel was first for the ladies in 2:33:31.
