Capital Subaru St. John’s Triathlon

August 5 @ 8:00 am
Rotary Sunshine Park, Bennett's Road
St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador Canada

Started in 1984, the 2018 Capital Subaru St. John’s Triathlon is the 34th annual edition of the event making it one of the oldest triathlons in North America!  This year’s race will be held at Rotary Sunshine Park on Sunday, August 5th.  Participants have the option of competing individually in Sprint or Olympic distance events or as part of a two or three-person team.

The Olympic Distance triathlon consists of a two-loop 1500-meter swim in Healey’s pond followed by a two-loop 46 km bike on partially closed and moderately hilly roads and finally a two-loop 10 km run on closed roads and scenic walking trails.  The Sprint distance is half the Olympic distance and involves just one loop of the swim, bike and run.

The sprint distance is a perfect way to experience the thrill of triathlon! All events are chip timed and participants will receive a finishers medal and other sponsor swag, there will also be medals for the top three finishers in each age group and a post-race reception.

There are also ample training opportunities throughout the spring and summer with the Monday night bike rides and a timed open water swim event in July. More information on these can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/stjohnstri/Home and you can also follow us on social media to get all the latest news and information.

TriNL is accepting applications for event sanctioning for the 2018 season.

Event organizers are invited to download our Race Director Handbook to learn about how to hold a multi-sport event, and the requirements associated with sanctioning.

Sanctioning applications are filled out and submitted online. You will also need to submit additional documentation including an Event Emergency Plan; permit applications from applicable municipal, provincial, and federal authorities; and maps of courses and related facilities.

This process offers an excellent checklist to ensure your event is safe and secure for all participants, volunteers, and other stakeholders and that the event is conducted fairly for all competitors.

Your sanctioned event will also benefit from the knowledge and experience of TriNL board members and associates, as well as promotional opportunities through our website, news feed, and member email list. TriNL will assign a Technical Delegate (a certified triathlon official) to review the sanctioning document and work with your event team to make the event successful for everyone.

Triathlon Newfoundland and Labrador. We can. We will.
