Sunshine Triathlon

Welcome to the Sunshine Triathlon 2026!

This is a triathlon for all ages, and all levels of capability, including:

  • Standard, Sprint, and Try-a-Tri (super-sprint) distances
  • Aquathlon, Duathlon, and Aquabike for those interested in two disciplines
  • Relay for teams with athletes covering all disciplines
  • Mad Moto for those young and not so young just trying out the sport

    • Try-a-Tri: 8:07 AM
    • Mad Moto: ~9:00 AM
  • Transition Opens: 7:00 AM
  • Kit Pickup:
    • Friday August 7 & Saturday August 8
    • Outfitters, 1091 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl
    • 10 AM – 5 PM
  • Mandatory Athlete’s Online Meeting on Google Meets: Saturday, August 8, 7 PM (link will be provided via email).

Standard Distance Events (Triathlon, Aquathlon, Aquabike, Duathlon, Relay)

  • The Standard Distance Triathlon and Aquabike are World Qualifer events!
  • Swim: 1,500m (2 loops) – Healey’s Pond
  • Bike: 36km (4 loops) – Bennett’s Road, Thorburn Road, Tolt Road, Old Broad Cove Road
  • Run: 9km (6 loops) – Sunshine Park Trails
  • An Expression of Interest (available on the Triathlon Canada site) must be filed prior to the event.

Sprint Distance Events (Triathlon, Aquathlon, Aquabike, Duathlon, Relay)

  • Swim: 750m (1 loop) – Healey’s Pond
  • Bike: 18km (2 loops) – Bennett’s Road, Thorburn Road, Tolt Road, Old Broad Cove Road
  • Run: 4.5km (3 loops) – Sunshine Park Trails

Try-a-Tri (Super-Sprint) Event:

  • Swim: 300m (2 loops of 150m course) – Healey’s Pond
  • Bike: 9km (1 loop) – Benentt’s Road, Thorburn Road, Tolt Road, Old Broad Cove Road
  • Run: 3km (2 loops) – Sunshine Park Trails

Mad Moto Aquathlon Event:

  • This event is designed as an introduction to outdoor triathlon for young people and those new to the sport
  • The event is conducted in waves defined by age grouping, and limited to 12 athletes at a time to avoid crowding
  • The swim and run are on closed courses to avoid safety concerns in dealing with vehicle traffic
  • Transition for the the Mad Moto waves is on the beach at Sunshine Park
  • Swim: 150m (1 loop of 150m course) – Healey’s Pond
  • Run: 1.5km (1 loop) – Sunshine Camp Trails
